Mosaic NY

Mosaic NY

Mosaic NY is Hobart and William Smith Colleges's ongoing theatre company devoted to provoking dialogue, developing community, celebrating diversity, and encouraging the active pursuit of social justice. Mosaic NY believes that theatre provides an ideal forum for exploring diversity and social justice by engaging audiences and performers in an empathetic and imaginative exploration of shared narrative. I founded Mosaic NY in 2014 based upon the model of Auburn University’s Mosaic Theatre Company, which I founded in 2012 and is still going strong under the leadership of Tessa Carr and Abdul-Khaliq Murtadha. Follow this link to learn more about our process and history.

You can learn more about the type of work we do via the links below -- or check out this audio interview I did with Finger Lakes Public Radio.

Mosaic NY creates performances that directly engage all incoming students in thinking about what it means to be a member of a diverse  campus community that welcomes the open exchange of ideas through respectful and inclusive dialogue.

Guerrilla Theatre and Multimedia

Mosaic NY creates small acts of guerrilla theatre to intervene in problematic social dynamics on campus as they arise. Although Mosaic NY works primarily through the medium of live performance, we occasionally turn to recorded media when they better meet the needs of an audience.
