Aristophanes' Lysistrata - Auburn University (November 8-16, 2012)
This production began with my metatheatrical adaptation of Jack Lindsay's public domain translation of the text. Halfway through each performance of the Lindsay, the actors decided to abandon its stodgy and sexist translation to instead perform the engaging Ellen McLaughlin adaptation. Half-finished scenery and costumes were used for the metatheatrical adaptation in the first part (which was staged as an open rehearsal) and the colorful fully-realized design elements are from the McLaughlin. The scenic transformation happened in full view of the audience while actors participated in an acrobatic performance downstage. For a copy of my adaptation, please contact me.
